Republic of Ireland wins the First Celt Cup with 2-0 win over Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland went into this game cock-a-hoop after their \par comprehensive win over the Isle of Man in the semi-final. The \par Republic of Ireland ,who fielded an unchanged team from their semi- par final win over Scotland, It took almost all of the first half to gain the initiative. Caroline Thorpe gaining her second of the tournament opened the scoring in the 44th minute. It remained 1-0 at the break. The Republic dominated proceedings after the break and sealed victory in the 83rd minute when substitute Niamh Connolly scored to secure the Celt Cup for the Republic. Noel King's first tournament as manager of the Republic of Ireland Women's National Team ends in victory.
