Three British national teams in expanded 2002 Algarve Cup tournament as Wales replaces Belarus

Colin Aldis

For the first time in its nine year history, the Nordic Countries in conjunction with the Portugese FA as hosts have invited three teams from Britain as part of the new enlarged tournament of 12 teams. England, in the same group as USA, Norway and Sweden, are expected to announce any day now whether they have accepted the invitation.

China, Denmark, Germany and Finland are in the other main group. The 3rd group will include hosts Portugal, Canada, Scotland and now Wales, who have replaced Belarus.

The matches will be played in various towns across the Algarve coast region on March 1st 3rd, 5th, and 7th.
