March 19, 2003 New Zealand National Team kick off USA tour with win ScoringNew Zealand Smith (Rebecca Smith) 53 Baylor University 68 New Zealand Ferrara (penalty kick) 72 New Zealand Smith (unassisted) 75 Baylor University 77 The SWANZ opened its tour of the USA with a 3-2 win over Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Post game quote SWANZ Head Coach, Sandy Davie
We took twenty minutes to find our feet and settle into the game but then proceeded to play well, knocking the ball around with good confidence. The players came to terms extremely well with the new women’Äôs international player and team strategy (4-4-2) This was a good game to win against quality opposition. The players have quickly developed into a harmonious unit of 18 players all with the same goal in mind. They answered the challenge tonight in beautiful conditions for football on a perfect surface. All players came through the match unscathed and will have a light training session tomorrow afternoon before travelling to Austin for game two against the University of Texas on Friday (NZT).
