March 18, 2003 Schedule for Oceania World Cup Qualifying Tournament changed The Oceania Football Confederation has revised the schedule following the late withdrawal of both Fiji and Vanuatu. Five nations will now contest this year. Australia, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa. A complete round-robin (no finals) format will be utilized rather than the original two-pool method with semifinals and final, and the winner decided on points, and goal difference if necessary. One team will have the bye on each of the five double-header match days. Favorites Australia and New Zealand are scheduled to play their crucial match against each other on the last day of competition.
