March 25, 2003 Australia chooses twenty players for OFC qualifying tournament for World Cup 2003 Midfielder Taryn Rockall and forward Amy Wilson return after an absence. They join sixteen players who finished second behind Sweden in the Australia Cup, plus defender Dianne Alagich and goalkeeper Melissa Barbieri who were late withdrawals from the January tournament through injury. Salisbury and Peters are the only survivors from the last World Cup Qualifiers held in 1998 in Auckland, whilst Salisbury also competed in the 1994 qualifying tournament in Port Moresby. The rest of the group will be experiencing their first World Cup Qualifiers, although Alagich, Golebiowski, and Wilson went on to play in the 1999 World Cup along with Salisbury and Peters, and Sacha Wainwright plus Salisbury were members of the 1995 World Cup team.
