Results of Round 20 in Damallsvenskan, Sweden´s premier league played October 13-14th

By Thorsten Frennstedt

Mallbacken 1 Malmö FF 4 (1-2)

Mallbacken Ceclilia Klier (44)

Malmö FF Luiza Pendyk (26,34),Therese Jönsson (75) Natalia Folbrycht (85)

The last time Malmö visited Mallbacken was a month ago for the Swedish Cup. Then Luiza secured Malmö’s place for the next round with a golden goal. She had played for Mallbacken before she joined the Malmö team. National team defender Karolina Westberg was injured when warming up before the game. Substitute Josefin Ovesson took her position beside Sara Larsson, the outstanding player of the Malmö team according to head coach Lena Videkull. Jenny Möller also a defender, was the key player for Mallbacken.

Öster 0 Kristianstad/Wä 1 (0-0)

Kristianstad/Wä Therese Björk (79)

This was a crucial match to avoid relegation from the Allsvenskan. Öster mobilised two good players who for different reasons had not played any matches earlier this year. Last week the team fired the head coach. Nothing helped. Kristianstd/Wä was the better team. The winning goal however came when the ball rebounded off a home side defender leaving keeper Lena Gunnarsson no chance. She had saved a cannon of a header from K/W sweeper Åsa Lindberg some minutes earlier.

Bälinge 2 Djurgården 4 (2-1)

Bälinge Lina Call (25), Therese Sandström (32)

Djurgården Jill Brommé (45), Jill Rubinstein (67, 85), Elin Flyborg (88)

Bälinge played its best of the season in the first half, but let Djurgården into the match with some cheap mistakes. Alhough it seemed like Bälinge would come back it was not to be as Djurgårdens American player Jill Rubinstein burst through.

HIF Alingsås 1 Hammarby 1 (1-1)

HIF Alingsås Therese Juslin (17)

Hammarby Salina Olsson (28)

Hammarby dropped beneath the relegation line because of the dropped point. The home side moved up from the bottom. Hammarby squandered most of its chances in the second half. Hammarby plays a crucial match in the next round away against Öster.

Älvsjö 1 Umeå 5 (1-2)

Älvsjö Katarina Karlsson

Umeå Hanna Marklund (2), Malin Moström (44), 4 Hanna Ljungberg (62, 80), Linda Dahlqvist (90)

Umeå is just a win away from winning the title. It could happen on Wednesday night when Umeå hosts Bälinge in the match which was postponed due to Umeå´s matches in Champions League last week-end. Thre is no doubt that Umeå is Sweden´s best club team. Because of injuries Älvsjö had to mobilise former National team defender, and present assistant coach of Älvsjö, Cecilia Sandell. As long as she was on the field Älvsjö could stop the prolific Umeå players. Hanna Ljungberg scored twice, but the secret about Umeå is that they have too many (for opponents) top class players on their roster.

Sunnanå 1 Kopparbergs/Landvetter 1 (0-0)

Sunnanå Madelaine Edlund (49)

Kopparbergs/Landvetter Marit Björstedt (56).

Kopparbergs/Landvetter may lose their target of climbing up one place every year in the league. Sunnanå is fighting to keep its place. The spectators got to see two great goals. Madelaine Edlund rocked the ball off the underside of the cross bar for 1-0. Marit Björstedt pulled her trigger from 25 meters and the eqaualizer went in inside the far post. Marit together with Ulrika Björn gave the home defense plenty of work. Janina Sundqvist was the great organizer of her team as was Anna Maria Eriksson for Kopparbergs/Landvetter.
