18th round results of Damallsvenskan, Sweden´s premier league games played September 22-23

By Thorsten Frennstedt

Umeå 2 Malmö 0 (1-0)

Malin Moström (35, 51)

It seems that Malmö´s efforts to win the league were lost with this defeat. It was an even game. The two top strikers, Luiza Pendyk of Malmö and Hanna Ljungberg of Umeå each had a defender draped over them. Malin Moström cut inside and put her shot past the nearest post only to see the ball touched in by a Malmö defender. Her second goal was a blast.

“We should have been tougher in the box. We played a good game, however I´m disappointed with the score,” Malmö´s head coach Lena Videkull said.

Älvsjö 5 Hammarby 0 (2-0)

Victoria Svensson ( 24, 39, 66, 70, 85).

For the first time in the history of the Allsvenskan a player has scored five goals twice during a season. Victoria Svensson is in top shape, 13 goals in the three latest games. She got good support from mainly midfielders Anna Pohjanen and Linda Fagerström. Victoria got her second Yellow Card which could be crucial. If Victoria gets another one she will be suspended for one game.

Bälinge 6 Öster 0 (2-0)

Maria Säfström (16), Lina Call (21). Carolin Hagberg (60). Anna Eskult (84), Carina Holmberg (80,90).

Bälinge broke the winning streak of Öster. The Bälinge players took revenge for their 6-0-loss last week in Malmö. The win against Öster almost secures them a chance to play in the league next year. It was the first goal for each of the scorers of the three goals: Lina Call and Carina Holmberg, the latter a substitute player.

Mallbacken 1 Kopparbergs/Landvetter 2 (0-1)

Kopparbergs/Landvetter Marit Björstedt (21), (83)

Mallbacken Birgitta Stjernberg ( 67)

“We lost the home game by trying to play the ball through the mid-field. This time we played like Mallbacken. That meant counter attacks and bursting through,” K/L head coach Bo Falk disclosed. “Marit Björstedt pounded away at the home defense and was successful to twice.”

HIF Alingsås - Kristianstad/Wä 3-0 (1-0)

Scores, Camilla Ackerfors (29, Cathrine Björk (81), Katarina Ölvebo (89).

HIF Alingsås under the new head coach Gunnar Karlsson played securely. The two late goals were scored by substitudes. Kristianstad/Wä has scored only ones in five games.

Sunnanå 2 Djurgården 3 (1-2)

Djurgården Jill Rubinstein (6), Sara Johansson (30), Karin Ottosson (51, PK

Sunnanå Helena Svärd (45, PK), Helena Svärd (67)

Sunnanå was close to tying the game. Djurgården keeper Kickan Sigfridsson had to make two great saves in the second half. Sunnanå was unlucky to get a PK against them when Elin Flyborg fell in the box. Djurgården was very efficient and chewed them up in the first half. When Sunnanå changed to 4-3-3 with Janina Sundqvist giving the front line full support, a Djurgården win was in danger.
