14th week results of Damallsvenskan, Sweden´s premier league
By Thorsten Frennstedt
August 18-19th Malmö FF-2 Kristianstad/Wä 0 (1-0) Therese Lundin (12), Therese Jönsson (48) These derbies in the south province of Scanie are always unpredictable though Malmö generally is ahead of their neighbours. Malmö controlled the match. Head coach Lena Videkull although had warned her defense, “I will not accept allowing our opponents to send the ball behind our backline like they did in the last game against Djurgården.” Keeper Caroline Jönsson had to get into sharp action only once when K/W topscorer Katarina Andersson had a good chance in the first half. Therese Lundins headed the ball by for 1-0, and Therese Jönsson scored with her right foot for 2-0.
Älvsjö 3 Öster 0Jessica Thorn (13), Victoria Svensson (47,59). Victoria Svensson keeps her shape and sharpness. Öster in the bottom of the league faced the two top teams within a week. The defence worked quite well except for the sole attacker. Älvsjö team officers think that national team player Linda Fagerström who was injured against Sunnanå will be back for the Stockholm derby against Djurgården.
Bälinge 6 HIF Alingsås 1 (5-0) Bälinge Eskhult (3), (5), (59) Maria Säfström (4),(14) Maria Krohn (11), HIF Alingsås Camilla Fredh (75) The Bälinge players took a vengeance on their guests for last weeks 0-7 humiliation against Kopparbergs/Landvetter setting a record of five scores during the first 14 minutes of the game. “It was just incredible. We got no chance to change tactics or anything. The homeside was one hundred percent succesful in every attempt,” HIF Alingsås head coach Bo Lyvén said. Anna Eskhult´s achievement was top class. She should earn her place with the national team during its training camp next week-end in Stockholm.
Mallbacken 2 Sunnanå 1 (0-1) Sunnanå Madelaine Edlund (17) Mallbacken Jenny Monsén (74), Birgitta Stjernberg (90)
Both teams have a sad record of defeats. Sunnanå is still badly needs points. The team from the north really earned the goal for a good performance in the first half. The homeside took over in the second. Anxious about loosing the game after the equalizer Sunnanå made several mistakes under pressure. The winning goal by Birgitta Stjernberg is her first this season.
Hammarby 2 Kopparbergs/Landvetter 4 (0-2) Kopparbergs/Landvetter Ulrika Björn (3),(87), Marit Björstedt (34), (89) Hammarby Salina Olsson (PK, 83), (90)
Kopparbergs/Landvetter climbed to the 4th position. Not surprising since Hammarby was no threat at all. The Stockholm club has a very tiny roster. It diminished this week as three players went to the US for studies.
Umeå IK 6 Djurgården 0 (3-0) Hanna Ljungberg (9), Frida Östberg (22), Malin Moström (PK,50), Tina Nordlund (56), Therese Kapstad (76), Emma Lindqvist (81). Djurgården was supposed to do better. But Umeå is the top team of Sweden, although still number two in the league until maybe Oct. 13th in the away match against leading Älvsjö. Six goals and six scorers just shows no weakness anywhere in the team. “We challenged Umeå by moving Jessika Sundh to the midfield but instead the home side found new areas to play the ball,”Djurgården´s head coach Håkan Andersson explains.
