13th round results of Damallsvenskan, Sweden´s premier league

By Thorsten Frennstedt

Djurgården 2 Malmö FF 2

Malmö FF Luiza Pendyk (6), Maria Westerblad (81)

Djurgården Sara Johansson (13, 21)

Malmö slowed down after the first score. Sara Johansson showed some weakness in the Malmö backline, which seemed to have gone into hibernation when she scored two similar goals. Sara is one of Sweden´s fastest forwards. Malmö´s head coach Lena Videkull was disappointed with their first half performance. “We lost important two points in our chase after Älvsjö and Umeå.”

Håkan Andersson, the colleague of Djurgården said “ My disappointment is that we could not keep ahead during the last minutes. On the other hand Djurgården has not set the goal of being one of the two best teams in league that Malmö has. “

Playing 4-3-3 is succesful for Djurgården. Between top scorer Elin Flyborg and Sara Johansson, Karin Sandbrink played great. Defenders Karolina Rinman and Jessika Sundh stopped almost all of Malmö attacks.

HIF Alingsås 4 Mallbacken 1

Mallbacken Cecilia Klier (16), own goal (66),

HIF Alingsås Camilla Fredh (68), Camilla Ackerfors (87,89)

The two promoted teams this season have taken different tracks. The win still keeps hope alive for HIF Alingsås. As a matter of fact though HIF Alingås deserved better than the 1-4 defeat in Mallbacken. the result in the second leg should not be a shock. HIF Alingsås was helped by an own goal to equalize and then Camilla Fredh, who had squandered an earlier chance got into the scoring column. The most experienced player, formerly in the national team, Camilla Ackerfors scored the insurance goals. It was the third consecutive loss for Mallbacken.

Kopparbergs/Landvetter 7 Bälinge 0

Scores, Marit Björstedt (2, PK 13, 22, 72, 90), Lotta Schelin (69), Ulrika Björn (89).

Bälinge head coach Per Widén has this to add after the Koppabergs/Landvetter pounding:

“We played three matches in seven days, beating Mallbacken twice in the league and dropping to Umeå in the Swedish cup. Our players had not the strengh to fight more than they did.”

Marit Björstedt had scored six goals in all during this league. She had got quite free before all of her scores.

Kristianstad/Wä 2 Hammarby 1

Hammarby Ingrid Olsson (60)

Kristianstad/Wä Katarina Andersson (63, 75)

The two teams missed their strikers. It was no surprise that the first half was goal-less, there were simply no shots on goals. Kristianstad/Wä seemed a little more prolific but then Hammarby took the lead. The home side replied rapidly. With some perfectly weighted balls Nilla Fischer found Katarina Andersson who twice burst through and switched the game around.

Sunnanå 1 Älvsjö 5 (1-0)

Sunnanå Helena Svärd (44 pk

Älvsjö Jenny Syrén (50), Victoria Svensson (62), Ida Edström (70), Malin Nyqvist (73, pk), Jessica Thorn 89

Sunnanå midfielder Thea Lundgren received a bad knee injury and was taken to hospital. Älvsjö´s national team player Linda Fageström also had to leave the field for an injury. Älvsjö after the early equalizer in the second half took over the game. Anna Pohjanen, a former Sunnanå player, dominated together with Victoria Svensson. They were the prolific players assisting every score.

Öster 0 Umeå 2 (0-0)

Scores, Hanna Ljungberg (71) Therese Kapstad (83).

Öster seemed about to repeat the sensation of the year when Umeå lost first place in the league after playing 1-1 against Öster. We saw the same tactical pattern this time, 4-5-1. Umeå pounded away at the Öster defense. Ann Arvidsson and Margareta Andersson denied Hanna Ljungberg and Tina Nordlund the ball all the time, except for once when Hanna scored. On the other hand Öster was no threat at all in front of Ulla-Karin Thelin in the Umeå goal.

“We knew that the match would be like the one in Umeå. We would just keep calm and have patience. Sooner or later Öster would make a mistake,” Umeå´s head coach Richrd Holmlund explained.
