By Thorsten Frennstedt

Sweden beat Canada in their guest's first match of their European tour on Sunday, June 10. The final score was 5-2 in front of more than 3.000 spectators in Linköping, Sweden. Forwards Elin Flyborg scored three goals and Hanna Ljungberg two.

Sweden repeated its win from the Algarve Cup this year. The score was then also 5-2. hat-trick was then by Hanna Ljungberg.

Sweden came out well. played quickly and offensive. Elin scored her first after 15 minutes and made it 2-0 after 35. The weak side this time was Sweden´s defence. Canada got just two real chances during the first half and scored at both times by Kristina Kiss and Christine Latham.

I had not expected my team to make an even match against the Swedes on their home soil. Team Sweden has grown in a year, team Canada´s head coach Even Pellerud said.
Keeeper Carina Le Blanc made her first appeances for the Maple Leaves impressing with some acrobatic saves.
Elin Flyborg scored her third goal in a row again giving Sweden the lead by 3-2 and two minutes later Hanna Ljungberg scored hir first for 4-2 then adding the 5-2 to her record.
Sweden's experienced players Malin Andersson and Victoria Svensson had to rest because of injured hamstrings. The rest were looking very sharp, especially midfielder Malin Moström. Ulla-Karin Thelin was keeper during the first half and Ulrika Karlsson (San Diego Spirit) during the second. Neither of them had much to do.
