The China organizers launched the 2003 Women's World Cup mascot and emblem on November 20th in Shanghai.

The mascot is designed by Lv Xi, a teacher of Sichuan Art College. Although it has no name now, Lv said that his ideas come from a heroine, Hua Mulan. "Her hair style looks like two balls," Lv said with a smile, " Mulan is brave, smart and virtuous."

"It is very interesting." China international player Sun Wen said. She praised the design and thought that it was very creative.

The CEO of the organization Zhang Jilong promised that China would do its very best in hosting the tournament. China also staged the 1991 tournament, when the USA won the first World Cup.
