First rounds of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament have begun in the Caribbean

Haiti beat the Dominican Republic 10-2 on aggregate in a two-game series after winning 7-0 on Ocober 31st. and 3-2 on November 2nd. Trinidad & Tobago has a lead after their 2-0 win against Suriname on November 9th. and play the second game of the series on November 12th.

The 2004 CONCACAF Olympic Qualification Final Round will take place from February 25 through March 7, 2004 in Costa Rica. Mexico will host the Group 4 preliminary three-team competition with Honduras and Nicaragua from December 10th. -14th. that Costa Rica was originally scheduled to host. The final round of the tournament was originally slated to be played in Mexico. The USA has a bye through preliminaries and will play in Group B with the winners of qualifying Group 1 (Trinidad & Tobago or Suriname), Group 3 (Haiti) and Group 4 (Mexico, Honduras or Nicaragua). The top two teams from round robin play in Groups A and B will face off in the semifinals of the Final Round tournament, with the finalists receiving CONCACAF's two berths to the 2004 Summer Games in Athens. The change in venue for the final round now gives Costa Rica a bye through the preliminaries and into Group A with Canada, plus the winners of two other preliminaries (Panama , Belize or host Guatemala) taking place from November 19th. -23rd. and (Jamaica, U.S. Virgin Islands, or host Cayman Islands) being played from December 3rd. -7th.
