October 20, 2000 Flor Maria Romero Rivera Last Monday October
16, 2000 the creation of the Mexican Women Soccer League with the participation
of 20 teams was announced. This League didn't recruit any national team players or players from the top amateurs leagues from Mexico City and Guadalajara so we still don't know the quality of the players that are going to participate in it and the media hasn't taken it very well. In spite of the Mexican Football Federation acreditation, this League is full of problems. At the present time they don't know for sure where the games are going to be played, the players don't have uniforms and the President of the League left the place as soon as the questions from the press started. This kind of actions harm the development of women's soccer instead of promoting it. If they start the League whith such desorganization it will have a very high probability of failing and after that who's going to believe in women soccer?
