Game
Canada came out quickly
and within the first half hour Hooper converted a penalty kick given for
a trip in the area. Although physically overmatched Costa Rica played
hard against the wind, but just before the half ended Hooper caught their
keeper out after taking a goal kick and lofted a perfect lob over her
retreating head to put the game away.
Sinclair put it out
of reach within two minutes of the start of the second half, and although
Costa Rica played pluckily with the wind behind them they could only confound
the Canadian scoring efforts.
