15 Players selected for Canada U-20 National Team camp
Canada Under-20 National Team Head Coach Ian Bridge will hold the first camp
of the year from February 26th to March 6th in Vancouver, British Columbia.
"
I am looking forward to seeing many new players stepping up to the U-20 program
as well as the players still eligible for this team because FIFA has changed
the age group for the World Championships,” said Bridge. “The focus
of this camp will be to evaluate the players, both new and experienced, in as
many game situations as possible. After the winter break, I think this is both
demanding and fun for the players."
In January, following the FIFA Under-19 Women’s World Championship Thailand
2004, FIFA raised the age limit of players from 19 to 20. As a result, the competition
will be renamed the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship. Additionally,
the number of teams in the final round of competition will increase from 12 to
16. FIFA’s Executive Committee will decide at its next meeting on March
7-8, 2005 on how the additional four slots will be distributed among the confederations.
