Is 2003 World Cup going back to the USA?

It seems that, because of the high attendance levels achieved at the 1999 World Cup USA, the United States may be favored over Australia as FIFA's choice for the emergency hosting of the 2003 Cup. Particularly sincethe rapid improvement in Australia's soccer has not been accompanied by a similar improvement in attendance at international matches in the country. A decision will have to be made soon so as to offer the selected Nation as much preparation time as possible for a rather dramatic and busy change of venue, and one is expected in a day or so.
