FoxSportsWorld commentating at an all time low in 2002 Gold Cup, as poor quality TV commentators continue to hurt the women's game in the United States
If you thought that when you watched Stone cover the Norway game on ESP N, and the WUSA Atlanta game against Carolina on regional Fox Sport South TV, he was the most pitiful excuse for a soccer commentator you have ever seen- then think again. The current TV coverage of the 2002 Gold Cup is even worse than the officiating, and an uninformed Hopkins with his trite babble has taken the commentating to a new low. Unfortunately his timid assistant cannot rescue him the way that Wendy Gebauer-Palladino, an experienced, knowledgeable and capable commentator, pulled Stone out of the sewers he had dug for himself. Switching off the sound is the only remedy.
The letters have again begun to arrive at Women's Soccer World from despondent and often irate fans complaining about the poor commentating, and we have posted an example.
J.P. Dellacamera and Wendy Gebauer-Palladino are without a doubt the best duo covering the women's game. I met J.P. covering the 1995 FIFA Womenıs World Cup in Sweden , and he covers soccer on Television for both women and men better than any one else in the USA.
