Our view of third and last day of games in First Round
To be played Tuesday August 17, 2004
Group E at Volos
Sweden vs. Nigeria
A must game for Sweden to advance and effect their final standing in the group since both Japan and Nigeria have a win. If Sweden plays even close to its potential we expect them to beat Nigeria.
Group F at Athens
Germany vs. Mexico
Expect Mexico to play a tight bunker style defensive game, because one point could send them through to the quarter-finals while China can only sit and watch. This style could be disastrous since Germany has so much attacking talent. We believe that Germany will win.
Group G
At Patra
Greece vs. Brazil
Unfortunately Brazil will be too fast and skilful for a valiant host team. Greece will try to make it difficult for them, as they have for each team they have played so far, and if they survive the first half they could upset a team whose apparent main weakness is that they are not as physically fit as most of the other teams in the tournament.
At Thessaloniki
USA vs. Australia
It will be interesting to see how many of the talented U.S. bench play in this game.
