Fiji National Team denied opportunity to compete in Oceanic 2003 World Cup qualifier by Fiji FA
In what appears to be an illogical and possibly discriminatory decision, the women's team had their trip cancelled by the Fiji FA after being in camp for the past few months preparing for the Oceanic qualifier and the South Pacific Games.
The reason given was that, "due to the ongoing war it was not safe to travel to Australia."
WSW was unaware that women soccer players had become targeted in Australia. The journey by the Fiji sevens team and women's sevens team to Hong Kong seems to be a rather more risky venture considering the present viral scare.
