Fulham, the only professional team in Europe, knocks off Arsenal in Semi-Final of League Cup

Arsenal, who last season won the 3 top English trophies, was beaten by Fulham 3-2 in extra time with an unassisted effort by Marianne Pettersen.

On a sometimes wet and windy evening at Woking AFC it was 2-2 at the end of regular time. Arsenal went ahead with a goal by Ciara Grant. Rachel Yankey playing against her old teammates, was slightly embarrassed to hit a spectacular equalizer with a shot which flew over Emma Byrne.

Second half substitute, Sanchia Duncan must have thought she had scored the winner for Fulham, with a near post touch-in, but the English Marieanne (Spacey) struck another spectacular goal to send the game into extra time.

Immediately after the 30 minute extra time kick-off Norwegian Marianne ran from half-way beating several players and the keeper to slot home the winner.

Fulham will now play Birmingham City in the League Cup Final on April 7th
