Maaden Ladies win inaugural Cup Final in Egypt

Maaden LFC from Cairo is Egypt's first ever cup winner in women's soccer. The final was held in the Egyptian capital of Cairo. Maaden who had already won the inaugural championship league, defeated Somuda LFC from Alexandria1-0. Sara Hasaman Mohamed scored the goal in the 8th minute in front of a sold out crowd of 10,000. The game, attended by the Egyptian Football Association's new President Yousef El Dashoury, was shown live on television. The nationwide twelve team league begins its second season on November 14,1999.
