Shanghai changed her host stadium to Zabei stadium this round. This game attracted almost eight thousand fans to watch the game against Sichuan. Superstar SUN Wen from Shanghai I recovering from her injury and appeared in the stand. SUN will not play any of the games left for Shanghai this season. Former national team striker MO Chenyue, most active in the front scored the opening goal for the host team just eight minute from the beginning.
Ten minutes later MO who is just five foot two inch and regarded as SUN Wen II in Shanghai team headed over goalie XIAO into the remote corner for the second goal in the vital area. MO who was dropped from the national team because of her short stature has reached the top of scoring leaders with five goals. There have not been not any changes in team positions in the past few rounds, but Dalian at the bottom exchanged poition with the other two weak teams Army and Shandong this time.

Shandong team had to face the same failure after meeting the two strong teams at the top standing in the past two rounds. The weak defense from Shandong didn¡¯t stop visitor¡¯s attacking, and the young strikers didn¡¯t get any strong support from their midfield. Although substitute midfield ZHU Jing from national team was in Shandong¡¯s starting line-up, she wasn¡¯t very effective.

This was a game between Shanghai team at the top and the Dalian team at the bottom. Some of national team players from Shanghai even didn¡¯t visit Dalian with Shanghai team this time. PAN Lina scored the opening for Shanghai 9th minute from the beginning. But just ten minutes later LI Xia helped host to draw Shanghai after she collected the ball from only one national team player WANG Jian¡¯s header. It seems that cold weather inflected the performance from the two sides. After the break no more attacks were started. Shanghai was held to 1-1 away drew in the first time this season.

It was the first time for the Shanghai team to have a problem as host when they gained the lead with two goals. The more physical playing Hebei team showed their young players potential ten minutes from the end. Their attack put a lot of pressure on Shanghai's defense during that period.
Substitute striker WANG Zhanjiang scored for Hebei in 72rd minute after Shanghai goalie ZHAO Yan batted out the shot from national team player ZHANG Ouying from Hebei.

Guangdong, another strong team in China, continued to follow the leader Shanghai in the standings with the win 1-0 against Sichuan in an away game this round. The midfield from Guangdong consisted of four current or former national team players like ZHAO Lihong, QIU Haiyan, HE Xingxue and WU Chuan who is regarded as the most promising young player in Chinese league. This strong midfield helps Guangdong to stay in a leading position in both the league and goal standings.

Game reports
The Beijing team that won the Chinese League Title last season lost 1-0 to host Shanghai team on October 11th. There was only one national team player MAN Yanling in the Beijing team's starting line-up. This time MAN Yanling moved from right full back to central defender that had been played by another national team top player WEN Lirong from Beijing. But Shanghai had more reserve players than Beijing. At least six former or current national players started. They controlled the game from beginning to end. Former national striker MO Chenyue received a long pass from national team midfield PAN Lina on the left edge of the penalty area at the 30th minute, and she easily kicked the ball over the goalie into the right corner of net. National team player LIU Ying from Beijing was brought on to strengthen the midfield in the second half, but looked very tired. This round the Henan team, without national team player FAN Yunjie, could not handle bottom team Shandong in an away game because of some serious defensive errors.

Report
Chinese women football league restarts to play after nearly half-year break on 7th,October. Some games were played in almost empty stadiums in the rain and misty weather. After host Shanghai team thrashed lowly Shandong staying at the bottom 4 0, Shanghai continued to keep her top place in the standing. Superstar SUN Wen
from Shanghai didn't return her team this time and she is staying in Beijing to prepare for the treatment of her injured knee. The score from National team player QIU Haiyan, who didn't get any chance to play in the Sydney Olympics, in the second half time made it impossible for Hebei to draw.
Except for WANG Liping and ZHU Jing on the bench and LIU Ailing, LIU Ying and WEN Lirong from Beijing other national team players came on for the young players as substitutes this round. Goalie GAO Hong also didn't appear in her team because she will immigrate to Canada soon.

Comments
The league will have a six-month break after this round. In this first stage good form has kept Sichuan (who have no National Team players), just behind the leader Shanghai in the standings.

The Chinese National Team will regroup at the training camp in Beijing very soon. In the next few months Chinese team will have a series of warm-ups in Australia, USA and Germany in preparation for 2000 Sydney Olympic.

Comments
While the Shanghai side was defeating all its rivals in the past five rounds, Beijing was struggling to find the form which took them to the first place last season. They could hardly find a way to put the ball into even a weak opponent's net in front of the very few home fans. According to the table, BAI Jie, a right full back in Chinese national team, is the top scorer at present.

Commentary
After three rounds it seems that nothing has changed from last season. Shanghai,Beijing and Guangdong are still heading the league standings. Veterans can be seen in the players' roster of every team this season. Among them are ZHANG Honghong from Beijing, SUN Qingmei from Hebei, SHI Guihong from Guangdong, YU Hongqi from Dalian,SUI Qingxia from Shanghai, FAN Yunping from Henan and CHEN Yufeng from Shandong who are all famous former national team players.They played for China in the first FIFA Women's World Championship team at Guangzhou city in 1991. While these famous players return the field some promising young players are being selected into the first team. Seven new faces appear in the camp of the Beijing team.

Commentary
Shanghai team met newcomer Dalian at Shanghai stadium while Guangdong, Army and Hebei were playing their home matches against Shandong, Sichuan and Henan. The Beijing team, league Champions last season, drew a bye in the first round. Most of national team players took part in the first round games in spite of arriving back from Portugal just a few days ago. This season the Army and Hebei team changed their homefields to Dongguan city near Guangzhou and Shijiazhuang city, the capital of Hebei Province.

The Shanghai team which has at least seven national team players is the biggest in China now after they received a rich sponsorship from a South Korean sports network company. Shanghai club will do a lot of things to attract more fans to their homefield this season. For example, some supporters will get free tickets from the club after they register as a member of the club fans' association. In the first round, nearly twenty five thousand fans went to Shanghai stadium to support the hometeam.
