October 28, 2005 Liu Ying decides to hang up her boots By Jia Ailing The former China National Team midfielder Liu Ying, who missed the penalty in the final of 1999 World Cup, has announced her retirement. The decision follows what has been a glorious year for Liu, as the 31-year-old helped Beijing Chengjian claim the title of the 10th national games this month. "I have no regret now," Liu Ying said after the final, "I played my first national games about 12 years ago, now it is time to end my career." Liu Ying will continue her study in Beijing Normal University where her major is Sports Management.
