Pei Encai, the former head coach of Wuhan Huanghelou club, was named as the new Head Coach of the China National Team by China Sports Bureau today.

Pei was born in 1953 and began his coaching career in 1983. In the last
twenty-two years he has helped both PLA Chaoneng and Beijing Shougang gain promotion from the third division into the second division.

But all these clubs, including Wuhan Huanghelou, are men's clubs.

Although Pei has no previous experience of coaching a women’s team, he believes he can lead the Iron Roses return to the top.
Former deputy head coach Wang Haiming was named as Pei's assistant, and Shi Lianzhi will be the goalkeeper coach.
