February 7, 2005 Han Duan helps China to hard fought draw with Denmark By Jia Ailing China 1 Denmark 1 Monday, February 7, 2005 Yiwu Stadium, Zhejiang Province
Striker Han Duan scored her third goal in the last five matches and helped her team earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw with visiting Denmark.
On Monday afternoon in a cold and rainy affair at Yiwu Field, the home side offense had a hard time putting Denmark under any pressure. Overall the team played with a lot of discipline, especially the back four, and was able to keep Denmark's attack in check. The visitors' only goal was scored by Lene Jensen in the 49th from the combination of a China defensive mistake and a wonderful cross from Julie Bukh Rydahl. China didn't fold after the goal and Han Duan scored 21 minutes later after receiving a corner kick from her club teammate Bi Yan. In the last twenty minutes, the visitors had incredible opportunities to score but several of their shots either sailed just over or just wide of the net.
"It would be a better match if my players took it seriously," China deputy Head Coach Wang Haiming said after the match,"I found some problems from the matches and we need time to solve them."
Denmark striker Lene Jensen was named Player of the Match.
