January 16, 2003 Some Northern California -- San Francisco Peninsula news from San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization Looking for a Fall team to join? Many competitive teams in the "youngers" category are scheduling tryouts in the early months of 2003. Listing of January and February team tryouts from mid-peninsula competitive soccer clubs at http://www.sayso.org/tryout_community.htm Tryouts for U9 and U10 (Fall 2003 designations) girls will be held by the San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization on February 9, February 23, March 9, and March 23 at Central Elementary School in Belmont from 12:00 till 2:00. Several 18-hour USSF grade-8 referee courses are being held on the Peninsula - one in Portola Valley (on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting January 21) and another in East Menlo Park (two consecutive Friday-Saturday sessions starting February 7. The South San Jose/West Valley Soccer League is offering a referee certification course on the weekend of February 7-9 (Friday-Sunday). The class will be held at Castro Middle School. The De Anza Youth Soccer League is offering a referee certification course starting on the evening of Monday February 17 and running through the following Saturday. The U9/U10 (Fall 2003 designations) "Hot Shots" Spring Soccer League is open to girls soccer teams (CYSA, AYSO, PAL, Girls Club, and indoor teams) as well as individual players on the Peninsula. There are no residency limitations. Third-party insurance is provided, and teams do not retain their original affiliations.
