Sampson to remain with CYSA-South

Former U.S. National Team Head Coach Steve Sampson will remain in the United States as technical director for the California Youth Soccer Association-South. Sampson had been in negotiation with Costa Rica for the last two weeks to become the team's head coach heading into World Cup qualifying. "I am flattered to have been considered by the Costa Rican Federation," said Sampson, "It is always an honor and a privilege to represent a country in the world's most popular sporting event, and I know they will be successful in their quest to qualify for the World Cup." With CYSA-South, Sampson has helped developed a national model to identify and develop the nation's top soccer players.
