"Ronaldina", aka Milene Domingues makes her debut against the U.S. Under-17 Region 4 team

Mario Rimati

Ronaldina, aka Milene Domingues the wife of Ronaldo made her debut yesterday with her new club Fiammamonza in front of approximately 1,000 fans, including husband Ronaldo, who was no doubt anxious to see his wife involved in a sport very dear to

him. The event must have been rather unique for Fiammamonza's opponent, the U.S. U-17 Region 4 team (1-1 final result). It probably isnot every day that Ronaldo, arguably one of the world's greatest players, comes to watch you play. Milene played roughly 25 minutes of the second half as her coaches did not want to push her too much as she has recently recovered from a knee injury. Her reaction to her first day in Italian soccer? "It was a special day because I was on the field and he was in the stands playing dad. It will be his turn to be on the field as soon as the coach gives the ok"

Ronaldo has just come back from Brazil after undergoing lengthy rehabilitation for his own knee problems. The coaching staff of Inter for whom he plays are also anxiously awaiting his return on the field for the big match this weekend against Roma.

No doubt many of those 1,000 fans came out to see Ronaldo more than his wife but given that Italian women's soccer is perpetually starving for some much needed attention from the media, anything helps. Quite the day indeed for fans, players (and husbands) alike.
