Best soccer players in Midwest Region play for Snickers USY S Regional Championships June 22-27

The State Cup winners advance to the Snickers US Youth Soccer Regional Championships in Springfield, Missouri to be played June 22-27 at the Cooper Family Soccerplex.

Springfield will play host to 190 state champions which will represent Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. For the first time since the championship's inauguration, two new age groups consisting of an under-fourteen and under-fifteen age division will now be advancing to the national championships.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for June 22nd at Plaster Stadium on the Southwest Missouri State University campus. Preliminary games are slated for June 23-25, with semifinals being played on June 26th, and the finals on June 27th.

Fifteen thousand visitors are expected in Springfield to view the championships, bringing a $5.5 million influx of business to the community according to Tracey Kimrlin with the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Springfield is delighted to host the Snickers US Youth Soccer Regional Championships this year. We will fill up every hotel room in Springfield and the surrounding area."

The games are being held at the Cooper Family Soccerplex, a $6 million, 18-field soccer complex that also includes its own indoor soccer facility. The complex was developed and is operated by Lake Country Soccer, a local US Youth Soccer League. The local organizing committee has been planning theevent since it was awarded three years ago. During this last year, a core group of 30 volunteers have worked nonstop in preparation and will add another two hundred volunteers during the event itself.

The winners of the Snickers US Youth Soccer Regional Championships advanceto the Snickers US Youth Soccer National Championships in Lawrence, Indiana, at the Lawrence Soccer Complex, July 22-29. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format to determine the championship finalists in each age group. The two teams with the highest point totals after round-robin play (three games) will move on to the national title match.
