The City of Lawrence will play host to these 24 US girls' teams, their families, fans, and spectators. Tournament officials estimate a crowd of just over 5,000 to Lawrence for the championships. "This tournament continues a tradition in Lawrence soccer that has been going on for nearly twenty years," says Lawrence Deputy Mayor, Chuck Ricks. "By welcoming soccer players, fans, and coaches from all over the country, the city of Lawrence gains a great opportunity." The opening ceremonies for the national championships will be held at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis beginning at 6 p.m. on the 24th.
The Lawrence Soccer Complex will host the tournament, and players will play the championship matches on seven of the 21 soccer fields at the complex. "The Lawrence soccer complex plays host, on a regular basis, to about 2,500 youth soccer players," Chuck Ricks notes. "Despite only being a year-old, the complex has hosted practice for the U.S. Olympic teams and for other international teams." The tournament will also offer an Interactive Center where several of US Youth Soccer's national sponsors will set up inflatable games and contests offering a variety of prizes.
The tournament matches
will be played:
Wednesday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00
p.m.
The finals are scheduled from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29th.
The Indiana Youth Soccer Association will host a charity golf tournament with proceeds benefiting the Uniroyal Tire TOPSoccer, a US Youth Soccer program. The golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 28th at the Winding Ridge Golf Club at 8:00 a.m. and will be followed by a Silent Auction. Also on Saturday, the Lawrence Soccer Complex will host the Tide American Cup Recreational Soccer Tournament.
