October 22, 2001 Brazil U-19 National Team in training Coach Paulo Goncalves is currently seeking to sort define his Under-19 women's team in readiness for the first two official competitions in the category : the South American championship in Argentina between 5 and 16 April 2002, and the World championship in Canada from 17 August to 2 September 2002. One of his first tasks in this third stage of training was to organise a friendly match ,yesterday( Sunday)21 October in the Italo Del Cima stadium kicking off at 1500hrs. against a women's team from Campo Grande, and Brazil won 3 – 1. The Brazilian Under-19 women's team has been at Granja Comary in Teresopolis since October 15th. with daily training between 0900hrs and 1530hrs.. Two other friendly matches have been arranged on the 25th. against a youth Under-15 boys team from Teresopolis, and on the 28th against Madureira's women's team. Coach Paulo Goncalves is satisfied with how the training has been going, “ We are starting out from scratch at this category, and we are doing our best to give the girls as much match experience as possible. They have come a long way since March.” Paulo believes that the national first team, which he also trains, will be able to make use of some of the Under-19 team players, even though the average age of the squad is only 17 with promising players like Daiane, a full back, who is 16 yearsold and plays for Club- Gremio-RS.
