The First FIFA Under-19 Women's World Championship to be held in Canada
The first Under-19 World Championship will be held in Canada, August-- September , 2002
Neither the qualifying process for the participating countries, nor the places allotted to each confederation has been established. 90 countries are expected to participate in the qualifying phase that will take place over two years.
Ghana, USA and South Africa were also candidates for hosting the event. Ghana remains a candidate for 2004.
